Some Advice from an Old Guy

Here is a video I made about the importance of “green cards”. Like all advice, it’s worth about what you pay for it 🙂 If you are new to assembler, you might learn something interesting.

  1. Genuine IBM “Reference Summary” cards still show up on eBay quite often, which is where I got my own copy of the IBM “Green” Card.

A little late to the party, the first such card I owned was the “yellow” version, the System/370 Reference Summary.
If you decide to get one of these card on eBay though, just be sure to get one that says “System/360” or “System/370”, since there are other IBM “reference cards” which won’t have the Machine Instructions, e.g. the System/7, JES, IPCS, VM/SP, etc, cards.
You can also rely on the IBM Library Reference Numbers:
    GX20-1703 = System/360 “Green” Card
    GX20-1850 = System/370 “Yellow” Card
