The Punctilious Programmer IBM Mainframe Assembler Test Yourself – and help me out

Test Yourself – and help me out

I’ve added a plugin to the website that will allow me to create tests or quizzes, grade them, and send you the results. I’m in the early stages of implementing a database of assembler questions on a variety of topics. So far, I’ve created the first test that asks questions about character data and instructions. I could use your help trying out the test system to see how it works. There is a box at the bottom of the test where you can report any problems with the test. Will you give it a try and let me know what you think?

Go to the Test Yourself tab on the home page and select the Character Data #1 test. To get the results, you will have to provide an email address. I make no money from this site, so I will not use your email for commercial purposes.

My goal is to build a database to help you prepare for job interviews, or just to brush up on various aspects of this large language.

  1. Hi David,
I tried with random answers and it seems pretty good to me!
Do you plan to do a lot more questions?
Would be grateful to group the questions in a level group, easy to very difficult?
Anyway, great to test own knowledge!
    Thank you David

    1. Hi Georges,
Thanks for writing. I’m still trying to get a grip on the plugin that supports testing under WordPress. I removed the need to provide an email address for the moment. I’ll keep experimenting with the plugin. I think I can categorize the questions in different ways and I need to experiment with the best ways to do that. My first thought was to categorize by subject matter, but it would be nice to categorize by difficulty level as you suggest. This will take a while. Putting together a good test and making sure everything is correct is not easy, and not unlike creating a program. If I can construct a large database of questions, I think there will be an audience for it.
      David
